Kathryn Oberdorfer is an abstract painter rooted in the era of Abstract Expressionism. She is a long-time resident of Denver Colorado and is affiliated with Spark Gallery and Art Gym-Denver. She holds a BFA from the University of Denver.
What intrigues me about abstract art is the problems it presents.
It is much like putting the pieces of a puzzle together – arranging and rearranging elements until the composition comes together.
I bring to my work a concern for color, shape and line, and their relationship to each other. My imagery is based on abstract forms found in natural settings - most recently, Denver's Botanic Gardens. The spontaneous character of my work reflects the energy I gather from my natural surroundings.
