​"What day is it?” we heard so often in the midst of the pandemic era. We seemed to be swimming in a vast sea with no horizon line in sight - daily schedules faded and life’s passages took another form.

We each found a way to build some sort of structure to replace what we lost. For me, these paintings are the structure that mark my path along the way and delineate time. They are intended to encourage dialogue as we try to make sense of it all.

"Nothing Lasts Forever" was done before COVID; it reflects my delight of weekly visits to Denver"s Botanic Gardens where a delicate vine hanging from a tree captured my attention and became the subject matter of these paintings. My routine went on for weeks until one day I came back to find that the vine had dried up and very little of the structure remained.   Little did I know what a prophetic message it offered.
Another Person
On March 25, 2020 Colorado Governor Polis issued a stay-at-home mandate. Daily routines such as grocery store shopping became a monumental task. Fear and anxiety shuttered our days as threats of the deadly virus took over. The lightness of Nothing Lasts Forever came to a halt; I became another person and another artist.

First Night I Slept – Inauguration Day 2021
The palette integrated into these works captures the stunning attire worn by Jill Biden, Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, the Biden granddaughters and poet Amanda Gorman on Inauguration Day 2021.

IN GRATITUDE
In February 2021 I was fully vaccinated and so grateful to the amazing scientists, frontline workers, healthcare workers, and so many others who made the vaccine rollout possible.
